Born in Khuzdar, Balochistan, he began his musical journey at an early age and rose to national fame through Radio Pakistan and Pakistan Television. He has also gained international recognition for his performances on Coke Studio Pakistan and for popular songs such as "Dana Pe Dana" and "Afghan Jalebi."
With a career spanning more than five decades, Akhtar Chanal Zahri has performed across Pakistan and around the world, representing the beauty of Balochi culture and folk music. In recognition of his outstanding contribution to Pakistani music, he was awarded the Pride of Performance by the Government of Pakistan in 1998.
